Outdoor education for children

Our goal is to work with parents and children to achieve optimum health and wellness for decades to come.

My journey began as a chronically ill and inflamed child plagued by asthma symptoms, and despite being on medication, my condition only seemed to worsen. Frustrated by the lack of answers to my concerns, I stumbled upon naturopathic medicine.

What I unearthed was a profound shift in our approach to healing our bodies and a newfound understanding of what it means to genuinely achieve health. I came to realize the paramount importance of childhood health. The principles of naturopathic medicine resonated deeply with me, leading to a remarkable improvement in my well-being that I had never before experienced. From that point forward, it became my life's mission to extend this healing approach to others. This led me to attending the top naturopathic medical school in the country, Bastyr University in San Diego, CA, where I earned my doctorate.

My ultimate objective is to assist your child in not merely alleviating their symptoms but in addressing the root causes of their health challenges. This, in turn, will empower them to thrive and grow into healthy adults. While I cannot guarantee that your child's healing journey will be entirely straightforward or effortless, I can pledge to stand by your side, providing unwavering support to your family throughout the process.

In my leisure hours, you can often find me exploring local farmer's markets to procure fresh ingredients for culinary adventures, immersing myself in the beauty of nature, or enjoying quality moments with my husband and our beloved canine companion, Roxy!

Naturopathic Doctors are dedicated to caring for your child as a whole, addressing their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. They believe that good health isn't just about being free from illness; it's about helping your child thrive at their best. Additionally, NDs are committed to uncovering the underlying causes of your child's symptoms, not only to bring them relief but also to prevent future health issues. It all makes perfect sense, doesn't it? This is one of the reasons why our practitioners are passionate about Naturopathic Medicine.

The treatments we offer in our practice are not only safe and effective but also come with a lower risk of side effects compared to conventional approaches. However, it's important to know that our practitioners are skilled in both natural and conventional treatments, ensuring a well-rounded approach to your child's care.

Naturopathic Doctors prioritize building lasting connections with both children and their parents or guardians. Our office appointments are longer than traditional pediatrician visits. This is because we are dedicated to genuinely understanding each family on a profound level, and we intentionally maintain a small patient roster for this very purpose. This forms a pivotal part of guaranteeing that both you and your child receive comprehensive support, with every facet of your child's care given careful consideration.

How do we aid in the healing process?

Greetings! We're thrilled to have you join us on this journey. If you're a parent seeking answers regarding your child's health or aiming to proactively safeguard their well-being, you've come to the right place. Together, we'll explore the full spectrum of options available to you.

They've experienced the frustration of investing significant sums, often amounting to hundreds or even thousands of dollars, without finding the solutions they seek. But here's the uplifting news: you have an array of alternatives at your disposal!

Drawing from your child's unique health history, constitution, and vitality, we utilize a diverse range of therapeutic approaches to support their healing journey. Our objective extends beyond mere symptom relief; we're dedicated to fostering genuine, holistic healing from the very core.

We tailor individualized care plans to cater to the specific requirements of each patient, engaging in collaborative efforts to guide your child back to a state of well-being. These therapeutic techniques harness the inherent healing potential of nature, working to stimulate, mend, rejuvenate, and purify the body. Through this approach, we aspire to guide your child's body back into a state of harmonious balance, promoting comprehensive wellness.

Each child possesses unique nutritional necessities that require attention. It is imperative to tackle nutritional and lifestyle choices ahead of considering supplementary treatments, as these factors significantly influence one's overall well-being. It's crucial to recognize that relying solely on supplements or detox regimens cannot compensate for an inadequate diet or a stressful home environment. We prioritize and engage in conversations about nutrition, sleep, physical activity, social connections, emotional well-being, and spirituality with each patient. With our guidance, families are empowered to achieve equilibrium in these aspects with simplicity and purpose

Homeopathy stands alone in its safety, effectiveness, and lack of side effects among treatments. Originating with Samuel Hahneman in 1796, Homeopathy is a form of medicine that has been used around the world for hundreds of years. At its core lies the 'law of similars,' suggesting that what a substance can provoke, it can also alleviate. Homeopathy delves into the patient's vital force, identifies the root cause, and targets the symptoms your child exhibits. Remarkably, homeopathy often achieves curative results, especially when other treatments have proven ineffective.

Botanical medicine involves harnessing the healing properties of plant materials provided by nature to facilitate disease recovery and activate the body's natural healing processes. Every plant harbors unique phytochemicals with distinct therapeutic attributes, capable of inducing physiological and emotional transformations when consumed or applied externally. The realm of herbal medicine is intricate and benefits from the supervision of a qualified expert, particularly when treating children, as their small size doesn't diminish the potency of these plants, which can pose risks if misused. I hold a deep conviction that plants are precious gifts from our Creator, wielding formidable potential for healing—a truth I witness in my patients' lives daily.

Craniosacral therapy represents a distinctive approach to bodywork that merges the domains of physical touch and energy manipulation. This technique involves gentle contact with the head, skull, and sacrum, aimed at facilitating the body's natural cranial rhythms towards optimal balance. While many children and adolescents may not perceive immediate sensations during the therapy, they often experience noteworthy enhancements in the days that ensue. If deemed beneficial for your child's well-being, Craniosacral therapy is frequently integrated into my sessions without additional cost

Supplements

We do not advocate a one-size-fits-all approach to supplements for every child because individual needs and requirements vary greatly among humans. Nonetheless, when utilized appropriately, supplements can serve as valuable instruments in the healing process. Our primary objective always revolves around improving your or your child's well-being and sustaining long-term health, without the necessity of relying on an extensive array of supplements indefinitely. Our practitioners possess comprehensive expertise in the use of nutraceuticals to address various conditions such as parasites, intestinal permeability, immune system suppression, mold toxicity, ADD/ADHD, and more.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. How can I know that you are the right doctor for my child?
    1. We are happy to provide a complimentary 15 minute discovery call to prospective families to make sure the practitioner is a good fit for yo
  2. What is the difference between an MD and ND?
    1. Licensed Naturopathic Doctors (ND’s) attend one of the four-year medical schools that are nationally accredited by the Council for Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME). The CNME is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, which classifies the ND degree as a Doctorate-Professional degree, on par with MD’s and DO’s.
    2. The curriculum in naturopathic medical school parallels that of conventional medical schools. Naturopathic and Medical doctors are similar in that they both focus on the basic sciences (anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, embryology, and more) in the first two years of professional education. Then the final two years of instruction are dedicated to the clinical sciences --- the diagnosis and naturopathic treatment of patients and training as primary care physicians. Naturopathic Doctors sit for two sets of national exams, the NPLEX I basic science exam and NPLEX II clinical science exams, as well as elective exams in acupuncture, pharmacology, and minor procedures.
    3. Naturopathic Doctors are licensed on a state-by-state basis. In order for an ND to be eligible for licensure they must be a graduate of one of the four-year Naturopathic Medical schools, complete 4,100 hours of clinical training, and pass both licensing exams. In addition to learning the standard of care in medicine, Naturopathic Doctors take coursework in holistic approaches to healthcare. Naturopathic Doctors are the experts in the natural treatment of conditions, and have extensive training in clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, physical medicine, homeopathy, psychology and counseling, as well as conventional methods like pharmaceuticals.
  3. Are you a primary care physician (PCP)?
    1. While Naturopathic Doctors are trained as PCP’s, our practitioners act as an adjunctive care practitioner. Client’s are no longer required to have a PCP in the state of Montana to conduct physical exams, manage medications, receive vaccinations, etc.
  4. Do you take insurance?
    1. We are not contracted with any insurance providers and do not bill insurance directly, which allows us to give your family and child the best care possible. Some labs and services can be independently submitted to insurance for reimbursement. Please contact your insurance provider to understand your benefits. However, we DO take HSA and FSA cards!
  5. Do you offer lab testing?
    1. Yes, we ONLY order labs when it will give us answers that will change a treatment plan. Both practitioners orders both conventional and specialty lab tests. Conventional bloodwork that may be ordered include screening labs like cholesterol panel, complete blood count, a comprehensive metabolic panel, and a full thyroid workup. We also offer specialty lab tests with Genova Diagnostics, U.S. Biotek, Great Plains Labs, Doctor’s Data, and more. We food allergy and sensitivity testing for patients with allergic diseases, digestive concerns, eczema, and headaches. We offer comprehensive stool analysis tests for patients with unexplained failure to thrive, abdominal pain, gas and indigestion, chronic constipation or diarrhea, and more. These stool tests give extensive information on the microbiome, how the body digests fats and proteins, inflammation markers, a screen for inflammatory bowel disease, and test for parasites. Organic acid testing may be order for patients with ADHD, autism, and other neuropsychiatric conditions and extensive testing can be ordered for patients to get to the root cause. We also regularly orders the Dutch test for menstruating patients with irregular cycles, mood disturbances, sev
